Some more names added to our illustrious bill : Noel James (”Stands out like a droll giant in a comedy land of trite dwarfs” - The Independent) will be at the RAFA Club on Thursday 10th June, whilst Canadian Tony Law (who has won the Comedians’ Comedian award at the Melbourne Festival) will add spark to the RAFA on Thursday, the Kids Comedy Show on Saturday afternoon and at the Pavilion Saturday evening.
The festival opens with a show at the Pavilion with the fantastic John Bishop and the prolific Lloyd Langford (”One of the sharpest comedic minds on the circuit.” The Guardian). We then will move up to the RAFA Club where Alun Cochrane’s flights of fancy will entertain and amuse more than we really deserve.
Friday sees the irrepressible Sarah Millican headline, with Silky as compère, before the second show at the RAFA with Craig Campbell topping the bill ably supported by John Bishop
Saturday sees a cracking lineup of Welsh comics compèred by Elis James, headlined by Lloyd Langford with the excellent Jon Williams and Dan Mitchell as wingmen. The finale show at the Pavilion will be announced shortly.
There will be two extraordinary kids shows - one each weekend day, featuring Elis James, Silky and others.
We have kept prices as low as we can - £10.00 for the Pavilion Shows, £8 at the RAFA and £5 for the children’s shows. There will an evening ticket for Thursdays and Fridays - £15 for the combined Pavilion and RAFA shows.
Tickets will go on sale for all the shows online Friday 9am, 26th February from this website and the Pavilion’s, and also over the phone from the same day/time on 01978 860111 - although we will also sell them to audience members at the RAFA for the Kill for a Seat monthly club on Thursday 25th.
Okay - we have the first rush of confirmations, and we can therefore confirm that the Thursday and Friday night of the festival will be simply brilliant. We’ll let you know why on Monday, 10am…
Thanks for all the suggestions - we have been able to follow up a good few, and now have most of the line-up agreed and are just sorting out contacts and paperwork …. from mid February we will start adding names and then ticket information to this site.
There will be two shows each day of the festival, one early evening show in the Pavilion and then a club later on. There will also be children’s shows and one or two other special events.
More news soon
We are putting the first Llangollen Comedy Festival together as you read this - it’ll be a great weekend of the sort of irrepressible mirth and humour that Kill for a Seat comedy clubs around the country have become renowned for, and in a fantastic setting.
We will be announcing the first acts soon, and tickets will go on sale in the New Year, but to help us make the perfect event we need to hear from you - especially if there are acts you would like us to book.
