All done: See you next year.. June 9-12th 2011..

Hey gang. We’ve wound up our first Llangollen International Comedy Festival, (no kids show today, Sunday) so thanks for coming! Please join the mobile & e-mailing lists at Killforaseat.com to be the first to know what we’re up to for next year’s festival. My thanks go to Elin, Michael, Paul, Andy, JC & Geoff at the Pavilion for their tireless work and calm professionalism, Sheena and Brian and the folks at the RAFA Club for not freaking out when telly people turned up and took the piss out of the amount of sheer Brown in the building, PJ, Katy and the Sun Trevor crew for making alcohol so readily available, and all the acts for being so patient as I flapped around Denbighshire, crying and gibbering, especially John & Ed, for the humility and generosity with their time, and Brendan, consigliere. Last but not least, Jo. With all my heart.

‘the Llangollen lineup should be the envy of its much larger peers.. It’s no easy task to put together a programme packed with enough quality to get the locals buzzing as well as drawing in comedy junkies from further afield’  -The Guardian

Saturday line-up complete

Simon

Simon Munnery, also known by his stage names of Alan Parker: Urban Warrior and The League against Tedium, will headline on Saturday 12th June at the Pavilion. ‘One of the most original and talented comedians in the country’ according to the Observer.

Alongside him is the BAFTA award winning comedian Tudur Owen, best known for his comedy series for S4C, “The PC Leslie Wynne Show” and the Canadian comic, Tony Law. “To see Tony Law is to inhale deep breaths of comedy oxygen” The Herald

The night will be hosted by Geordie funny-man, Jason Cook, nominated for best compère in this year’s Chortle awards. ***** The Herald ***** Chortle **** Metro “The unexpected find of the Fringe. **** ” The Scotsman

It’s a brilliant line-up for our first ever comedy festival.. Come on down, you.

Tudur Owen joins the bill

tudur20owen203BAFTA Award winning comedian Tudur Owen has been added to the Pavilion Saturday show. Tudur was in Llangollen a couple of years ago with an excellent  pair of performances (one in English, one in Welsh) at the Fringe Festival and joins an already exceptional line up of Welsh Comedians on the Saturday night of the first Llangollen Comedy Festival.

There are still tickets left for both Saturday shows and the Pavilion show on Friday evening.

Sponsors

There are still a few sponsorship opportunities available for the festival - reserved tickets are included.  The packages are deliberately very affordable, if you are interested ring Elin Williams at  the Pavilion on 01978 860111 during office hours.

You can see which events are still available on the sponsors page.

A few more acts to the bill

edbyrneWe have added the fantastic observational wit of Ed Byrne to the Festival, the spark of Canadian born Tanyalee Davis, Chris Cairns (”A true star waiting to shine” - LIVE MAGAZINE) and the warm humour of Brendan Dempsey - you can see when they are on by checking the programme page. Not long to wait now …

Release of additional tickets for the sold out shows

pav1The Pavilion has had its capacities reviewed as part of the refurbishment, this means we will definitely have additional tickets for the show at the Pavilion on the Thursday evening.

We have a reserve list for these - it is probably still worth ringing if you have a hankering to see John Bishop & Lloyd Langford on that evening - 01978 860111 during office hours. We will release these tickets (which means we will contact those people on the list) as soon as we have written confirmation of the new capacity.

We will have the full line up (including the Saturday headliner) in the next couple of weeks.

Two sell out shows

We’re not happy - your side of the deal was to wait until we put all the posters up, had a press launch and spent all the  advertising money, then you were meant to work yourselves into a frenzy and buy all the tickets. Without all that to do (which frankly we were looking forwards to) we have now sold out of tickets for John Bishop & Lloyd Langford at the Pavilion on Thursday and Craig Campbell and John Bishop at the RAFA on the Friday. We’ll see what we can do about squeezing a few more bodies in  - so if you want to go on the reserve list you will need to ring the Pavilion on 01978 860111 during office hours and give us your name, e-mail and mobile number.

We are still waiting on confirmation of the Saturday headliner - you’ll know minutes after we do!

Tickets go on sale...

Tickets go on sale at 9am today - there are two methods to buy them:

  • Online : decide which shows you want to go to by day and venue and then use our InstantTicketSeller facility to buy your tickets
  • Phone : ring 01978 860111 to buy tickets by credit card

More on the acts ...

sarahhomethumbWe have added a page with quotes and links to websites and MySpace for each of the acts so far. There are more to come - you will find out here moments after we get confirmations …

The new page is here.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday morning as  planned - there will be a £15 ticket covering both shows on each evening, but no overall weekend ticket.
